The test hands you a number, and that is when the real question shows up: what does it actually mean. Is 30 per cent an alarm bell? Does 80 per cent protect you from anything? The short answer is that the number describes how you work, it does not pass judgement. The long answer is this article.
What the number is measuring
In the biorhythm method, compatibility is calculated on three separate axes, one for each cycle.
Physical axis — 23 days
Energy, daily rhythm, and the desire to do things together.
Emotional axis — 28 days
Mood, sensitivity, and patience with each other.
Intellectual axis — 33 days
Communication, clarity, and how you make decisions.
Each percentage says how often your two curves are in the same phase on that axis. It does not measure how much you love each other, or how long you will last. It measures how much of the connection comes naturally, without you having to actively seek it.
The shape matters more than the average
The most common mistake is looking only at the overall figure. It is the least informative number you have.
Two couples can both land on 60 per cent and be living opposite situations. High intellectual sync with low emotional sync means you understand each other when you reason and lose each other when you feel. High physical with low intellectual means your days together work and your decisions do not. Same number, different problem, different conversation to have.
Look at the shape of the profile, not the total.
A high score is not an insurance policy
A value around 80 or 90 per cent on an axis means you understand each other there with little effort. Communication flows, timing lines up, things sort themselves out.
What it does not do: remove conflict, replace talking, protect you from bad decisions. Plenty of couples with excellent numbers fall apart because they took the sync for granted and stopped working on it. It is a head start, and like every head start it can be wasted.
A low score is not a sentence
This is where the worst misreadings happen. A low percentage tells you that on that axis your rhythms run independently, so you will need more attention and more words to get where other couples arrive on their own.
It does not say you are incompatible. It says where you are spending more energy. Plenty of long relationships have at least one low axis and hold up perfectly well, because both people know where the delicate spot is and do not expect it to fix itself.
How to actually use it
The useful way to read the result is to turn it into three questions you ask together: where do we struggle most, what could we make clearer, which expectations are we taking for granted. If the test opens that conversation, it has done its job.
The useless way is to bring it into an argument already in progress as evidence. There the number adds nothing; it just backs up whoever quoted it.
Worth remembering that the three classic cycles are not a clinical instrument: they are a historical formulation that starts with Wilhelm Fliess in the late nineteenth century, within the study of biological periodicity. It offers a way of looking at the relationship, not a diagnosis. The couple test on BYOURIT gives you the first result free, with no account.
If you want to understand your own rhythm before the couple's, the free BYOURIT reading draws your three curves and the forecast for the next seven days. Reading a profile of two people is far easier once your own is clear.
FAQ
Does a low score mean we should break up? No. It shows which axis your rhythms diverge on, so where more awareness helps. No test can tell you what to do with your relationship.
Why is the average not enough? Because two very different profiles can produce the same average. The useful information sits in the gap between axes, not in the total.
Does the result change over time? The structural comparison between two birth dates does not change, because the cycles are periodic. What moves is the day-by-day picture, and that is the part you can plan around.
Do I need the time of birth? No, the classic cycles are calculated from the date alone.
